Track lighting is a type of lighting where multiple light fixtures are attached to a single base, or track. The track carries the electrical current, and the fixtures are plugged in using special connectors. Track lighting is an efficient way of adding multiple lights to one area without having to wire each specific light. The lights on the track can often be manipulated and moved around for the specific lighting configuration you want. Tracks can be mounted to ceilings or walls, down beams, across rafters or joists, or even mounted on rods and hung from high areas like vaulted ceilings.

There are also low voltage track lighting systems that can run 10, 12, or 24 volts. These systems are gaining popularity, but are rarely seen in two-circuit configurations.
